Fairies Within Dolls
I, Rita, have always felt a huge love and connection to Mother Earth and its magical realms. As a child I remember creating little dolls with different materials, like my grandmother's rags and treasures she collected from nature, like sticks, stones, flowers, and acorns.
The first handmade fairy dolls were created in 2005 to decorate our Christmas tree. They were so successful that family and friends started asking me to handcraft them for their own homes. This was the first step towards spreading them around the world, either as decorative ornaments for all occasions, nativity sets, or simply as figurines that bring inspiring messages through the expressions on their faces, what they hold in their hands, their strong connection to nature and, of course, their pure vibration.
My fairy figures and ornaments enlighten hearts, celebrate life and promote diversity among the unique and special beings we are. They are intended to show that the difference ought to be respected and embraced because I know from my own experience during childhood and adolescence that if it doesn't happen, it can lead to a serious lack of self-acceptance and a refusal to believe in one’s own light. I only found out a few years ago that I'm dyslexic, so you can imagine the struggles I've faced throughout my life, especially when I was young.
I believe that each of us brings within the highest potential of the fairy vibration; that's why I named this art project Fairies Within®. It has arisen from the deep connection that I have had with our planet Earth and all its enchanted kingdoms since I was a little girl, as well as from the enormous respect I feel for the richness of Humanity and, of course, from the Love that exists within each of us!
In the comfort and calmness of my hygge-style home in Estoril, near Lisbon, in Portugal, I have my studio where all the creative magic happens. My fairies are made of 100% cotton and wool materials and eco-friendly products. They are all charged and activated with lovely Reiki energy and with wonderful flower remedies drops. Each doll is handmade, and no two dolls are alike. Fairies Within® ooak figurines have been adopted by many beautiful souls spread across the world, as they are much more than beautiful decorative pieces.
